Bringing back the history of the Cohen Bray House Oak Tree Farm is a
labor of love by the descendants of the Cohen and Bray families and the Victorian Preservation Center of Oakland. Oak Tree Farm was established in the 1870's by Watson Augustus Bray. They planted orchards of pears, apples, peach, apricots and more. We have their original order for 1500 trees. The Bray Family built their family home on the property. In 1885 it was subdivided and the process of urbanization of the neighborhood began. In restoring Oak Tree Farm we are developing programs for local school students and community members that will teach urban farming skills, sustainable agriculture, nutrition education and community building.
